Just wanted to check if anyone is using their Evo to tether to PC using a USB cable and not the Hotspot feature?....What speeds are you guys getting? This is mine.
Nope i dont have the hotspot feature and im not using pdanet or tether.im using the feature that came with android 2.1(original Os that came with sprint.).i dont have 4G in my area either.
Well technically, USB Tethering did not come with Android 2.1. It's HTC's add on. Whenever you plug in your Evo to a computer, you'll have the option of selecting Internet Sharing on the Evo popup. It's free and has nothing to do with the premium Hotspot feature.

Wait, but USB tethering works for you? Did you do the OTA update that was released on 6/4? The Internet Sharing option is completely greyed out for me.

This is pretty weird...I still can't do it. The Internet Sharing option turns white when I connect my EVO by USB, but when I try to check it, it says "cannot connect" and leads me to a Error Code 67 - data call failure; user name or password incorrect.

Oh, was just joking around. Matrix reference. I'm hoping there's something special on your phone which will allow non-rooted phones to use native tethering.

I can use the tethering to connect a computer to a wifi router but can't get it to connect to the mobile network, get error code 67. kkwus, are sure you're transferring data over 3g? Wifi is completely turned off.
