Can't find this via a search, but am looking for opinions on any apps that will use the camera to get and image, and then create a pdf. I am not looking to do this on pictures, but rather on pages of text. I guess I can always just email a photo, but would rather it be a pdf.

I looked in the market, and found a few, all cost $, so I am writing to see if anyone will post their experience with any of these prior to me shelling out the bucks. Thanks.

Just my 2 cents:

I used a couple of similar apps on my bb and found that saving/sending as jpeg usually was an easier and better solution.

I LOVE to print/save as pdf on my computer and distribute documents that way, but ran into a bunch of nuisances when doing it on my bb. Document size was was hard to control and difficult to change after the pdf was created. It was hit or miss if the pdf was properly formatted for the image(s). I sometimes ended up with images split over multiple pages or blank pages at the beginning of the files etc.

In the end, I spent a bunch of cash for products/services I did not use. If you are going to be doing a lot of scan and send, I would suggest finding a good online image storage service which will allow you to upload, manipulate and send images. If you just do it occasionally, I would just stick to jpg.

I use Scan2PDF (paid version). I works great. It does cost $6, but if you really need it, then it is worth it. You can get the free version, but it has a water mark on it. You could always try it out for 24 hours, and if you don't like get a refund.

I tried Scan2Pdf and one other from the Android Market. I found them to be severely lacking. The resolution was too low to read 12 point type, and the image was too dark- a white page showed up as a dull gray.

When I take a photo and email the jpeg, it comes out crystal clear and very legible.

Scan2Pdf needs to increase the resolution and/or decrease the compression they are putting on the images. They also need to include some rudimentary image editing functions like brightness and contrast.

Another version or two and it might be worth paying for.

I realize this thread is a little obsolete but I would like to share my experience in case someone asks the same question again.

I am really happy with PDF Scanner by Melon Mobile. It costs only $1.99 and is the perfect solution for such a problem. You simply take a picture or a series of pictures and convert them in seconds.

So look for that app and I am sure you won't be disappointed. :)

First link I found on google so apparently people still look at it alot :p

I Tried out Camscanner (lite) and after the first picture to pdf I did I bought the app instantly,

It auto crops for you (which you can adjust if they auto crop wrong) AND it will enhance the image, which for black and white pages helps give back the legibilty after all that compression

While you cant copy and paste the text ( I don't know if thats what you guys are saying you want to do) It will allow you to group the pictures and then turn that group into a PDF document and will also number them in the order you take them. Name the Group and add tags to either the whole group or certain pages in the group

I haven't had much time to test the other features but The only real thing I have to complain about is that I can't seem to move one pdf page from the group it's in into another, but you can email your self that specific page or just transfer it one of the many ways they have to do that, so it's not like your totally screwed

It was either 5.00 or 5.99 I can't remember, I think it's worth it

Any decent free options? I only need to scan 3 documents today...doubt I'll be needing this on a weekly or even monthly basis.

CamScanner is available as a free version, but you'll end up with a footer on each page saying "scanned with CamScanner" or something like that (I don't remember, as the paid version doesn't have that).
