Wife's phone while we test out the phone, the network and the service - if good we get 4 of them. I'm in Miami Florida in area code 33174. I'm like 3 blocks from a major University - likely one of the largest in Florida. Apparently at home, I don't get 4g and subsiquently can't use the Hotspot feature from Home. Not sure maybe I'm doing something wrong. 4g is activated, but only reads 3g. When I turn on hotspot I get some 67 error.

Dumb question about widgets. My wife is coming off a Blackberry curve on T-mo. Any way to set the home page to show the most recent emails and calendar entries? For now, just HTC calendar and gmail. I see the wideget for Calendar, but can't seem to fit any widget for email on the page that would show the most recent 3 to 5 emails like she get on her Blackberry.

So far it looks nice. But without true 4g and hotspot, I think it was pointless to move. As for typing, will admit i like true keys, but the keyboard portrait is the most comfortable touch screen I've ever used. The voice command and voice typing is kinda cool too.

For me if I can get hotspot to work I will keep it and get 4 of them.

Thanks.

Hmm ok. I have come from a Palm pre to the Evo. and yes....it is worth it.

I also live in Miami: N. Miami Beach area, and we do not have 4g yet. rumored to be at the end of the month...you can go to sprint website to get a update I believe. So only 3g for now.

To get the hotspot native, you need to pony up the extra cash sprint wants for it. Or......you just root your phone and load the FREE hotspot tether apps. OR.....you wait for Froyo 2.2 to hit and get the tether app that is built in.

The HTC sense is loaded on your phone. You can swipe left and right to get access to different screens. You can also customize it. I have a Exchange server, and I also have Gmail. On your first page you can drop the mail widget there. On one of the other pages, you can run the full calender app and it will keep your exchange calendar there as well (If u have one..) You can customize the entire sense setup by using MENU---> Scenes-----> Clean slate.

The phone is great imo. Better than my pre. The market support is H U G E !!!! I have the hotspot ready to go, (Had it on my pre as well rooted...) but I have not implemented yet. Take some time and read some of the articles and forums. It will help. Hope these answers help as well. GL.

Thanks.

The phone is my wifes. She has a Sprint store across from her work and they just told her Miami would not get 4g until November.

I don't think she will be interested in letting me root the phone - I've heard all the Jailbreak stories with the iphone - If you root it, can you expect to have to issues that would require reset and OS reinstalls later on?

Are you saying it's possible to have the Sprint Evo without paying the extra $10 for Hotspot? and will Hotspot even work with 3g? I did not know the hotspot option was optional. Are there users out there getting Data without a Data plan?

She's checking if we are paying the extra $10 already.

Thanks.

You have to pay 10 bucks more just for the evo. Then 29.99 for the hot spot.. but it is possible to root and get free hot spot

Not sure how I missed the 29.99 monthly for HotSpot. Do you know If need to pay anything extra or do anything extra to simply tether the phone as a modem?

Wonder how long a phone can stay with root and if they likely go after this hack?
