Plus if you are going to talk about things such as how movies look great on the 4G bigger screen why don't you also mention that the picture quality looks better on the Inc amoled screen?

Im not one to usually talk smack but i saw the EVO at Best Buy and compared the Incredible to it, the EVO looked extremely washed out and I thought the color was horrible. I think their both great phones but Im very glad I have AMOLED!

Meh, no surprise that the EVO won. But with the problems that Sprint has had with the EVO, plus tiny 4g network with manditory $10 a month for it, and a few other things, I am happy I decided to switch from Sprint to Verizon and go with the DInc.

I think the Evo is a great phone and has a ton of features but its still too big for me. Even the Dinc with case is a little larger than I'm used to and can bother me at times in my pocket. The Evo's size and Carrier are deal breakers for me. I used to be on Sprint but my office changed because signal was really bad at our main office. I need a network that works where I am.

On a battery note, I went 24 hours with my normal usage (light to mid) and I was still at 39%. WIFI on the whole time, used GPS a couple times, surfed and played a couple games for about 30 minutes, facebook, gmail and texting for another 30 min, listen to music for about 20 min. For me the stock battery lasts me plenty.

I wanted to check out an EVO so if people questioned my opinion and said you need to handle one before forming an opinion, I would be able to say I had. The only place that currently had one was Radiosham (liked them better when they were a component store first & foremost), but the one they had was a dummy model. So I'm not able to comment on speed or screen (resolution & color anyway) but being able to hold it my hand did help me to see if I would be able to handle it. Just to let you know I don't have large or maybe even medium sized hands, but the device itself wasn't that big to hold. Accessing the screen one handed is a different matter. For most operations the EVO would make things a two handed affair (at least for me), so that is a drawback (again at least for me).

I wish in Noah's video review he would have used the same wallpaper on both phones (preferrably the red/black that was on the Incredible as that really shows off the contrast) so we could better compare them without having to go to the store. It might have just been the wallpaper on the EVO but that screen appeared to be washed out compared to the Incredible, but without the same wallpaper and screen brightness setting, it's impossible to say for sure.

The only two things that really stoodout to me as being things I might want on the Incredible that the EVO has is hdmi out and front facing camera. I don't know how much I'd use them, but it's be nice to have the option. But with the EVO, iPhone4, and quite possibly the Droid2 (or X) rumored to have the front cam, it will probably be a standard thing by the time I go to get a different phone. The 720p recording is kinda lacking because I compared the 720p video from youtube to my Lumix 9MP which records in WVGA (like the Incredible) and my Lumix is better (as it is also better than the WVGA on my Incredible). It's not going to replace a dedicated vidcam so it seems kinda dishonest to me to refer to it as 720p.

Like he said at the end, you can't go wrong with either phone, they both have their pros and cons (even an overclocked Droid1 can run with what's currently out there), so it comes down to what the individual wants. For me, I'm still not regretting purchasing the Incredible, even with the Droid2, DroidX, and Scorpion coming down the pike. Even if the iPhone were to release this year on Big Red, I wouldn't regret it. Especially after having my second iPod classic take a dump on me, and both at around 18-20 months (conspiracy theorists go to town).

That's my take anyway.

i think the evo should win for features but it only for people who can use the 4g and don't mind the screen i don't want that big of phone though so i wouldn't get the phone no matter what extras it has over the incredible. Both great phones

I'm not surprise CNET and Phonedog gave the EVO the wins. And the EVO is a great phone. But it's too big, harder to handle, you can't use it one handed. And without increasing the resolution the bigger screen really does nothing (EVO screen at 20"=DrInc at 16") but ruin your battery life. And the optical joystick is a nice touch, I HATE trackballs, and d-pads just feel cheap (shallow, I know). But it really makes my life easier when

And over a 2 year contract, that $10 a month more than DOUBLES the cost of the phone (atleast for me, since I don't have texting, which would increase the cost on verizon). All for "4g" service (it isn't actually 4g) that only a few people will ever actually get.

As far as I'm concerned, the only things the EVO has going for it over the DrInc is the kickstand (which is a nice touch, but worth the $.50 the business card holder I use as a cradle in my car), the forward facing camera (if your one of the 3 people that use video chat), and the ability to compensate for certain areas where you might be lacking (unless you live across the street from one of the 37 WiMax towers). Other than that, the DrInc has everything the EVO does, in a more useable, sleeker package.

It's hard to take these reviews seriously for a few reasons:

1) The reviewer (actor?) intentionally dresses and behaves like a total fool. The boxing scenes he does turn my stomach inside out.

2) The reviews don't fully explore the features of the two phones. Sure the EVO's screen is bigger...but did those clowns even know the two devices use different screen technologies? Did they even mention that the incredible has far more onboard storage? Nah, they were probably too busy dyeing their hair, acting stupid boxing skits, and putting rings on their index fingers. Oy va....

I'd be the first to agree the Evo is an amazing phone that offers even more technology than the DINC...but I'd like a comprehensive review by someone who has an ounce of credibility....guess that's too much to ask for.

Well, Incredible screen has its own problems. Pink tint being the major one. (If you are going to tell me you don't have it, post a picture please otherwise let it be).

Incredible is more like a smartphone rather than a big screened device that is bloated with features that most people won't use.

I've held my Incredible next to another one that has the pink tint. Mine does not have it. I'll see about posting a pic another time.

Went to htc.com and I see no pink at all. Its as white as snow and very crisp. The only thing that has a slight discoloration(sort of a gray hue) is the flash component of the phones and their features that slides across the screen in the middle. But I went to their site again on my laptop and its the same gray, so thats normal.

I also googled "gray" and looked at gray images and still, no pink. And IMO, this is more telling than the htc site considering what you're looking for in that is a flash component which may or may not render correctly to begin with. On top of that, the gradients are not very well defined.

This comparison could end in 3 seconds. One word:

Kickstand

Bam! There's your winner! Both phones are awesome, I love that HTC and Android are offering different form factors and features so people can pick what they like/need. Choice is king, everyone wins.

I played with an Evo and it was awesome, but even though I have bigger hands, I prefer the Incredible's sleek/slim form. Plus, Sprint is a deal breaker for me in my area.

my friend got his evo the same day i got my incredible. I played around on it and downloaded some of the best apps for him/showed him settings he should know.
The Evo is a REALLY nice phone, as far as the screen goes I wouldn't know because he had some generic screen cover on it that made it look like shit (which i told im he probably didnt need)
I do however think the battery life is defninitely worse than the Inc. (although not by much), especially if you don't know how to save its life with toggle switches (he had bluetooth and mobile net on 24/7 )

Really, it wasn't too big for me but thats just personal preference issue, some people may think it is. Any bigger though we definitely be too large for my taste

HD video will be available for Inc when we get froyo as well as wifi hotspot, and honestly I will never have a use for an HDMI output on my phone, although some people might

all in all this issue really isnt worth debating these two are pretty much the same phone. If you want smaller and sleeker, get the incredible. If you want HDMI and a larger screen, go with the evo. If you want a larger screen and don't want sprint's shitty customer coverage, wait for the Moto x.
And btw 4g accounts for NOTHING since sprint only offers it in about two cities nationwide. (despite what the guy in the black pants selling you the phone with fourrre geee says)

All the Incredibles have the "pink tint problem". Whether one sees it or not is a whole different story; it's even more evident as you start to scroll up/down the page.
