  • Hi Paul...

No worries. I haven't checked my profile page here in a while myself. I did see your message about reception on the Discover vs the Galaxy S4. There is no difference. Even though they both have different modems flashed into their firmware, there was no difference.

I had to move on to the Galaxy S4 phone because of the limitations with the Discover. I like to flash custom ROM's and there really isn't much support for the Discover. I'll be checking my profile page more often, so please feel free to message me about anything.

I do know that AT&T is working on more LTE coverage for the surrounding Boston areas, but that still may be some time unfortunately. The coverage here in Chicago is excellent, with the exception of my ground unit apt.

Hope all is well with you.

    Regards,

    Lanky
Hey Bruce, I just found these messages. I never new they were here, I apolagize....Yes I'm still having a horrible time with my reception at home. I only get 1 or 2 bars at the most. I have a 2 family wooden house. I live at the ocean in a City called Revere,Ma. about 1 mile from downtown Boston. I have been fighting all along with AT&T about the reception problem. I just found out on Friday that there are NO towers near me. Someone said because its not my fault about the Towers that AT&T has been known to let a person out of their contract at no cost. I think I should get the Microcell for nothing, like Cable Internet supplies hardware for nothing or a small rental. Its not because of my house, its because of AT&T's lack of Towers.
As far as my Pantech Discover I think for $49 its been a great little Phone
So like you said, because we are Bruins & Blackhawk fans we can still be buddies :))
Be Well Bruce & again I'm sorry about long time to answer your message!!

    Hi Paul...

Just checking in and seeing how you are coming along with your Discover and if you were able to resolve your reception issue.
    Hi Paul...

A Bruins fan, hmmmmmm.....well, I guess I can still answer your question ;-)

I have the same issue, as I am in a ground-level apt. There is a solution, but it comes at a cost of about $200. It is called a microcell. It uses your broadband signal from your router to boost your signal inside your house or apartment. Here is the site that explains it in detail from AT&T:

    AT&T MicroCell

Once on the webpage, you can scroll down and you will see a link to a video which explains to you how it works. I don't know if it is available in your area, but this is the only solution. I hope that this was helpful and that you are able to treat yourself to this gadget :)

Let me know if you have any more questions and I'll be more than happy to answer.

    Regards from Chicago,

    Bruce
