Hello, everyone!
About five months ago, I decided to root my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 (GS4) using the method that I mentioned in this thread I made: link. To be honest, I have not done much with the root, since I haven't had time to research things I can do with it. However, I did learn to use Titanium Backup (TB) and that app has been super useful.
I have found a little time to learn new things about root (I'm still a noob at this stuff), but before I try them out, I want to reset my phone. This is something I do every half-year with my phones, just to start fresh, open up some memory and perhaps make the phone faster than it is currently, and because I cannot afford a new phone (still paying for this one).
My question is: what is the safest way to do this? Do I just go to my settings and factory reset? Do I turn off the phone and press & hold the power & home buttons and choose factory reset? Is there another method? I don't mind losing root and having to root again. Also, I have moved my TB backup to my external micro SD card. So, when I choose to root again (if I must) and restore my apps, they will come back in the exact same state as the last back up has them, correct? Furthermore, I think I'd rather lose root while resetting so I can update my phone to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Is there a way I can get the firmware update if I don't lose root in the processes?
Tl;DR: How do I reset my rooted T-Mobile GS4 safely, and how do I download Lollipop while rooted? Please give step-by-step instructions; not much of techy person but I know how to read a recipe to the letter!
