Putting to rest the myths about Task Killers/RAM Optimizers and the like

Yep - Storage Truth is more interested in total and free values so we just mirror whatever the df command gives, as implemented on each device, for the areas of interest. Most implementations get lazy with rounding, that's why the Bionic looks funny for /data.

Nice to see that 1, 2, 3 progression on RAM Truth. :)

Hi guys, it's me again, the guys who is having stability trouble. Well the problem is only partially solved, so here I am again to see what you guys think.

First thing go first, EarlyMon's advice did show improvements, but the more i looked the more I realized that the underlying issue is still present. The loading bar still hangs at 60ish percent and at times keyboard (as well as other apps but mainly the keyboard) are sluggish to wake up. I've already switched up governors and limited the browser options (no pics and such) so what else is there that I can do for a smooth browsing experience? Thanks in advance.... Again :)

I actually never use ad blockers (well I didn't until I was trying to fix this issue and blamed it on the ads) so I'm not sure if they're worth it or not. But thanks, I'll check into it, for sometimes the ads are horrendous.
Naked browser does load very quickly, but the issue is still there. What I am seeing is 1st a delay in page display, then delay in page function (such as buttons taking up to 7 sec to work, or the key part responding sluggishly when I go to reply to a post) and last ... This one is tough to explain.... The page behaves oddly when I pinch and zoom. It will hang on the pinch for an odd amount of time, or it will snap to a different portion of the page (naked browser seems to be helping with this) just odd I guess.
As I said I'm fresh out of ideas, not that I had many to begin with :)

From the dev's OP at XDA -

"If you're rooted you'll be able to select which services or apps you wanna kill automagically."

So it's a task killer that doesn't orphan running services?

No idea what it is.

I saw it (Servicely) the other day from my daily XDA updates.
If I hadn't recognized the developer,I probably wouldn't even had glanced at it past the article on XDA News.
I'm really :thinking::thinking::thinking::thinking::thinking::thinking: as to what this is,if not a task killer.

Yeah, not sure why you'd need to kill services...

I wrote/have a service component to one of my first/early apps and it was killed by Android all the freaking time...I couldn't figure out why it was dying when in fact it was Android killing it off.

I had to write code in the service to know when/that it was restarted vs. started for the first time. My research / knowledge of that is a few years old though and probably all based on 2.3 vs. anything higher.

Seems like Android already has a service killer built-in ;) :p :D.

That's why I posted, not to stir up s***,but,a legit inquiry from someone who knows about as much as can fit on a pinhead on such things.
Best I can understand,if you have misbehaving apps/activities/etc....,nothing short of disabling/freezing/uninstalling isn't gonna do much of anything.
I can relate though, everyone & their mother @ work wants to tweak the HVAC controls/drives/timers/etc..... instead of letting it do its thing.
In the process,it's literally wasted energy & $,wash/rinse/repeat........................ :wtfdroid:

It's like a hot dog...you don't know exactly what's in it and you're a little curious, but you're afraid to ask 'cause you might not like the answer.

It's a never ending battle against stupidity. Scroll down to the last recommendation:

Is there away to get a real look at how my phone is charging? Like an estimate or the speed or power my phone is taking in? And that du speed boost app mentioned in that article has if I remember a pretty cool batter widget! Anyone y'all known how I can get that widget back without downloading that awful app which totally wrecked my phone before!

Using that app how do I know what is a good charge rate? Mine is 200....
There's no such thing as a good charge rate, just bad ones and better ones. :D

That sounds nuts but it's true.

The charging rate will vary depending on the tasks running.

Bad charge rate - despite being on the charger the phone continues to drain (just more slowly), stays about the same, or takes forever to charge.

How to use the app -

Open app, note charge rate.

Changing nothing else, try other cables and / or chargers. Note results for each.

If some are better than others, use that charging hardware if charging speed is an issue.

I received a HTC quick charge and it seams to charge slower then the stock one! I used that app that was mentioned and it rated my stock charger at 200 and my quick charger at 100.... I made sure my phone was using as little power as possible....
I called HTC and explained the issue and they are sending me a new one!

HTC One M8 support for Lollipop is a mixed bag with the app.

Compare method 1 and method 3. You probably want 3.

When using a Quick Charger it ought to show a line saying Turbo.

It assumes 5V - if the charger is in a high voltage state, it's going to falsely report current (it'll show more than actual).

In that case, multiply current by 5 and divide by 12 (assuming the 12 V mode).

So 2400 mAh is really 1000 mAh @ 12 V.

My M8 is charging at over 800 mA regardless of the app I try.

However, all of them say mine is at 3 mV when charging - which I rather doubt.

Only 3C Toolbox gets a voltage and current right for the M8 - oddly the standalone Battery Monitor by the same dev - 3 mV.

But all seem to agree on current.
