Can't enable tasker accessibility service

How should I enable the tasker accessibility service? There is an entry for it in the "Accessibility" page of the phone's settings, but it says the service is off. If I click on the entry, an on/off toggle switch appears in the "off" position. If I click on that, I get a dialog saying "Tasker wants permission to monitor your actions. Allows talkback to know when you are using an app." I can click "Cancel" in this dialog, but I can't click OK.

I assume this means I can't use the Application-based profile I was trying to set up when I ran into this issue. In tasker, I chose "profiles", then "+", chose "Application", then selected "Internet" (the browser). Then I hit "App Selection" or the back key, and this informed me that the Accessibility Service is disabled.

I'm running Android version 5.0.1, just installed it this evening.
