Help Phone calls automatically go to speakerphone!

Ever since this blasted Sense 3.0 update, I've had no end of niggles with this phone (it operated perfectly with the previous update - why couldn't they have left it alone!!??)
My phone goes straight to speaker phone when either I ring or someone rings me. Very embarrassing and just not good enough. Has anyone figured out a fix for this yet?

Also, weather doesn't update on my homescreen most of the time anymore and when I open the weather it won't update unless I manually sync it (even though it's set to update on opening) - and it's SO slow and battery hungry with the many moving clouds etc.

And finally, can't figure out a fix for the inability to answer calls while on bluetooth in the car - tried the facebook fix which didn't work and I'm not prepared to do a factory reset. A real pig of an update for me this one!!

Has anyone got any tips to get around this problem? (Ideally that don't include a factory reset as I just haven't got the time for that right now)

Not sure. I certainly haven't changed anything, but I'll check and post back.

Hi Exasperated & El Presidente.

The automatic speaker comes on for me too since the upgrade, on all incoming and outgoing calls . I've now unchecked the flip for speaker option and it still happens, regardless of position of the phone.

Any suggestions? It's very frustrating to say the least.

Is there anything in the USB port?

Do you notice if your screen stays on or off when on a call?

Hi Guys, First post, but was directed to these forums after Google Searching this problem highlighted by the OP.

This annoyance has recently bugged my phone, every call is automatically being answered in speaker phone ( Extremely embarressing on public transport), and when the phone is put to the ear the screen stays on.

I have done a full factory reset and made sure all the settings are correct, But since the recent update to 2.3.5 and 3.0 my DHD has never been the same.

I had this exact same issue last year, did a lot of research and the speaker on in calls is caused by a short in the usb port. in my case it was dust that got compressed every time you plug in the charger. take someting plastic and scrape out the dust and whalla. in some cases this also triggers the navigation due to the phone thinking it is in a cradle and a car appears on the top task bar. a friend also had the same issue and htc replaced the motherboard due to the short

Are you by any chance using Elixir? If so turn off the Speaker option under setting.I did and that fixed the problem for me.

Bought a New HTC desire and after two days kept going to speakerphone,took back to shop and was informed this is a major problem with all HTC's and cannot be fixed until next software update. Contacted HTC and told to do a factory reset, still on speaker phone. Contacted HTC seven time and each time told to do a factory reset because "We have had no other reports of this happening",which I dont believe for one second. I sent it back to HTC and after two weeks came back and still going to speakerphone. Went back to mobile phone shop and they would not change it because of the "14 Days return option". Now I have found out the many friends and family are having the same problems with their HTC's. Think the best bet is to scrape it and never buy another HTC mobile.

Elixer was my problem too, only I have a Droid Razr M. The problem started with my Elixir statusbar widget. I used to have "Speakerphone Toggle" on my statusbar widget. The last time I had that widget active, the speakerphone toggle was on. So, I did the following things to fix it.
(1) added the speakerphone toggle back to my statusbar widget
(2) used the status bar widget icon to turn OFF the speakerphone
(3) called my cellphone from my work phone and it was fixed
(4) removed the speakerphone toggle from the statusbar widget
(5) called my cellphone AGAIN from my work phone, for verification
(6) fixed!!!

I'm on a Sony Xperia and none of the above fixes work. Any ideas for me?

I had the same problem, go to settings, apps, all apps, car, then clear data, this can solve the issue. if not in additional if u have installed any call recording app. please uninstall it. it worked for me.

Haha hehe huhuuuuuu.. I got the reason ....goto settings - language and input- under speech section goto notification readout and uncheck all of them .....I have been trying out for last 1 week yaaaahoooooooo....

make a call and enjoy buddies...
