Going to hop in this thread since I saw mention of a bootloop problem. My sister's Verizon LG G4 started to bootloop this morning. She said the phone is 6 months old. What's the course of action? Any chance the phones have been recalled?

I can get into recovery mode on it. Shutting down and powering on did nothing to solve it. I just went back into recovery and wiped the cache, but it looks like that's not helping either.

Call lg or your network (dependant on where she bought it) and they should repair/replace it without issue.

Nothing will help. It's a hardware failure. LG admitted to the manufacturing defect back in Jan this year. If you pull the battery on the phone and look at the first three serial numbers you will probably see something in the range from 505 - 509. That is the range of affected devices. As been said before, LG will fix or replace for free. Only case where they won't is for those people that bought imported devices that are unlocked . But you have a verizon phone and should be ok for the repair.

Well I heard back from her this afternoon and they are going to give her a replacement... they gave her some sort of crappy loaner phone for the time being. What sucks is that she said they couldn't recover stuff from her phone. When I get home tonight I'm going to see if I can retrieve it and try reflowing the solder to get it to power on for data recovery. Or, as one guy posted on youtube, put it in the freezer so that everything contracts and hopefully connects for a short time.

There is a temp fix out there which involves putting the main board in the oven for a period of time at around 375 degrees. There are some You Tube videos showing this. Its probably your best bet. If you manage to boot it up get that data off right away. Most likely will boot loop again which it normally does.
So yeah, either freeze it or bake it lol. This is the one time I wish I had bought a carrier phone. No good will for us poor suckers that bought imported H815 G4's. LG basically told me I'm doomed.

So Verizon is going to give her a G5 as a replacement; they said the G4 isn't made anymore. In the meantime she had to buy a $100 dumb phone to get by, because the G5's are on backorder.
