Root Monstro's Rom v10 ZV6 LS660 4.4.2 Fastest and Lightest Rom UPDATED 4/22/2016

Oh, yeah, it is. It just isn't fully functional (for one reason or another) on any of the custom roms I've tried. Wanted to go back to stock, but... Sd troubles, as I've mentioned.

I've got mine fully functional on this ROM. Phone, SMS, MMS, Data, Wifi, Bluetooth, Hell, I can even tether. Just the annoying triangle. Settings>System Updates>Update Profile?

If i knew how to compile roms myself

I don't know either. But I can unpack a system.img, cherry pick it, create a script with one of any number of tools, and then put it back where I found it.;)

Look, guy, i read that, okay?

Not going to make many friends that way. I understand the frustration, but know one gets paid to do this. Hard enough to get a like. 99% of the problem with ROM's turns out to be OE anyway.
We all say things we don't mean from time to time. You do know that you can edit previous posts right?

Have you tried the TOT?

I cannot send MMS on this rom, and the cellular connection is very spotty now, much worse than on stock.

Seriously? I've already apologized for my dick move... Don't really appreciate being called out on it after the fact. Of course I know I can edit posts, but I'm not going to alter what's already been posted... I don't like when others do that as it can ruin the continuity of the thread. Anyway...

No idea what that even is, but I'll take a look...

I know, I'm just saying in the future. Didn't mean to get you all worked up, but I'll digress and apologize. I didn't realize you were an experienced forum member. Your 14 posts threw me off. Still working on that back-up.

LOL... 14 posts here, that's true. I've been on many boards prior to this one, of course. I was a BBS guy way back in the day... before "the internet" was just AOL and Compuserve. 14,400 baud modems and all that junk.

While I've got your attention, though... What is a TOT file? I looked at that post, but sans instructions, I'm at a loss. (I will go ahead and download the files when I get in front of my PC, maybe there's more info in the .rar or whatever it is) thanks in advance :)

Edit (see, I'm learning) : I see now the post says there's instructions included, so we'll see if I can't figure it out. Thanks for the link. :D

If you figure it out, I'd love to learn how. Always nice to be able to go back to stock, JIC.

Hi,

I just rooted my Ls660 with kingroot and couldn't get tether to work so I'm going to switch to supersu.

I don't know much about rooting but have done twrp once a year a so go but on a tablet not connected to a carrier.

If I use this will I lose my ability to connect to Virgin Mobile? I have an LS660ZV6.

And how do I do this step:
CAN ONLY BE DELETED IN A ROM>>>>Delete "/carrier/itson"
Causes issues with 4g and Won't let you boot custom roms

THANKS!

You will need to delete it manually with a file explorer. Please take some time and read through this entire thread. There is much to be learned. As far as eliminating Kinguser...you know that it isn't as easy as it sounds right?

Thanks, ok I have ESfileexplorer so I'll just delete the whole folder.

I just used the script from vicky bonick over at xda. I had some issues getting it through. I think because I had an older kingroot installed so I had to install the new kingroot and then try again. It seems to be gone but had to manually uninstall purify.

I'm going to research putting TWRP now it looks like the LS660 isn't supported?

This ROM is working well for me. There is something bugging me a bit. What is this WiFi MAC warning about? Hasn't affected my ability to use WiFi. I'm currently using my Tribute as a WiFi only, web browsing, music playing, portable gaming and streaming audio/video machine.

When turn "data roaming" on.....Is this domestic only? How can I turn on INTERNATIONAL roaming?

This phone and ROM is for the USA Tribute on Virgin Mobile. International data roaming wouldn't work with this phone. You need an unlocked GSM phone with a removable SIM card slot for international use.

This is untrue. I have worked on many VM LG Tributes at this point and know this to be untrue, also I have confirmed people in UK and Canada with VM Tribute in which international data roaming does work.

On the stock (atleast zv3 and zv4) rom it has a designated roaming menu. In this roaming menu is 2 options (4 total) Domestic and/or International and Voice and/or Data.

I'm probably going to answer my own question here, but i'm guessing i'll have to downgrade to stock zv3 or zv4.

I apologize......I had to dig out my old LG Tribute I had.....I confused the tribute with the VM LG Volt, which has the dedicated roaming menu.....Most of all the old stock rom VM phones have this roaming menu. The Tribute seems to have different setup system.

That's okay, thanks for the info! I've moved on to using an LG Stylo 3 as my daily driver. Still have the Tribute for backup with Monstro's last update.

Will rebuild the G stylo, root it just long enough to set the option to block the system update, then unroot it and keep it as another backup. Maybe turn it into a mini media or game machine... hmm, did that with an older Samsung Galaxy S3, as that has more usable memory, especially after putting in a stripped version of Marshmallow. We'll see. Thanks again! :)

Typical sad story: I have an LS660P (Freedompop/Sprint) and was able to get TWRP on it. Then I flashed a debloated Zv5 ROM and that seemed to work - but shortly after first boot the phone tried to upgrade to ZV6 and bricked itself :( (turns out that's a known issue). I tried this ROM which looks like what I should have tried first - but the phone always boots into TWRP. I also tried the first ROM I flashed again and a stock ROM but no joy. Since I do have TWRP working is there some way to get running again or am I pooched?

too light imho it's missing major components, and should mention OPENGAPPS

I rather like it that way, though. Remember, the phone has limited internal and system memory. All the bloatware that comes with the stock ROM slows it down, and that's why I'm glad Monstro developed this. I'm using my Tribute ATM, while I await the arrival of a replacement battery for my LG Stylo 3 (my usual daily driver). I run most of my social media, and search using the Chrome browser. Some current games work better under this ROM because of the extra system memory that's available (at least the ones that I can run, anyway).

You have a point. Occasionally, some apps crash because of the missing components, but I've never had the phone crash system wide (or freeze) since using Monstro. My phone froze a lot with the stock ROM. OPENGAPPS is great, but it may add some bloat to a RAM starved phone, depending on the packages used. Monstro's ROM works just fine for me.

I'd say you're better off rebuilding it via superr's kitchen if you want, i could try my hand at building an alternative

It's pointless as that device is 3g only and most apps in Play store have been broken on KK 4.4 due to the ongoing updates for newer OS's. Also, the security is so severely outdated that most ppl simply would not be safe from hacking. Sorry, Time to retire it..
