Any solution yet to the screen refresh issue?

I know there are older threads on this, but I thought I would just toss this out there to see whether anyone has yet come up with a lasting solution to the screen refresh issue (where you get a blank screen for a bit when coming out of an app and have to wait for the icons to reload).

Are you using an alternative homescreen like launcherpro?

Yes, I am using Launcher Pro. I install that when the problem started using the stock launcher, hoping it would help, and it seems to go in streaks, sometimes showing up rarely, then almost every time I come out of an app to the home screens.

Did you set it to "keep in memory" under homescreen preferences and "use home screen caches" anc "build caches as needed" under advanced-->memory settings?

I think that does the same thing as "keep in memory".

Yes, I have all those marked, and it doesn't seem to help (at least not most of the time).

I think I tried that code entry fix as well a few months ago as well. Ugh.

Nope, I've tried every proposed solution under the sun to no avail as well.

Using ADW. I checked System Persistent in Settings and it seems to have stopped this problem.

I hear LP is getting a full rewrite.
Word is that it's pushing the limits of android ...
Hopefully the new version will solve world wide poverty ...

OK, I went ahead and rooted the phone and then used Samsonite's code and that solved the problem for me. And, since it was rooted, I was able to download some apps that can clear the cache easily, move more apps to SD than stock Froyo will allow and it seems like a new phone! Free wifi tethering (which I will try out tonight) is just an added bonus!

That would be a decent feat, I guess. But what would really blow my mind is if anyone could ever manage to get rid of redraw issues on Froyo on the OG Droid.

The new LP is amazing!
the redraw time is very minimal if at all so far... even coming out of Camera (this is when its the WORST on my phone).
