I've been looking at these forums and some say they get 15hours + on regular usuage and others such ass myself get 6. Im pretty sure by now all of us have our settings pretty much the same. Gps,wifi,bt,background data off. Turn screen brigtness down etc. I think that maybe there's a bad batch of batteries out here....When the palm pre came out EVERYBODY had bad battery life so it was no question. With evo its some have horriable batt life, some have aweome batt life and the rest don't use it enough to actually know.

My phone lasts 4 hours with light usage, about 2 with moderate...needless to say it is virtually tethered to the charger and I'm thinking about trying to get it replaced because this really bad

I suggest Mr.Virginia's guide and doing the cdma trick or glitch.
    dial "*#*#4636#*#*
let it go to the menu> phone information>menu button>select radio band> et it quit out>force close>now select CDMA auto (PRL) hit the back button until you're at the main screen.

I was getting life 6hrs until I did this. Now I get 12+ with about 30%-40% left. Keep me updated.

You people need to check the battery usage details and see what is using all your battery.

The thing is... we DON'T all have the same settings by now.
I leave BT, wifi, background data, active-sync of three email accounts, facebok, etc AND GPS on full time and have my screen on auto-brightness. I get 12 hours of moderate use (20-30 mins of navigation+playing music through the 3.5mm jack, pandora with the screen off for 5-6 hours, 600-1000 txt messages[i know, i have a problem], as well as emails, facebook, twitter, browsing forums so on and so forth) and up to 2 days or so (probably around 35-40 hours) if I only use the phone for a few text messages and phone calls.

I have had this experience on two different evos now, with the stock battery on both, and with two ebay batteries.

Oh, and now that I have rooted and rommed with an undervolted kernel... I haven't seen my battery drop below 50% with leaving my house at 8am and plugging it in at 6pm when I get home. :D Maybe try something along those lines?

The only other problem with battery life I ever had was due to an SD card error... dropped my battery life to 3 hours for all the batteries. Did you try wiping and re-formatting your SD card? I know it sounds stupid... but it's usually just the one little thing which is overlooked that causes catastrophic failure.

Which brings me back to my question. If u have EVERYTHING on and ur using urs more then others, then why do u get better battery life then somebody who has EVERYTHING off and let's it sit most of the day...All i can think of is that ur battery is better.

I'm just going to reiterate that you people need to check your battery history to see what applications are using all your battery up. That is the issue, nothing else.

Look up "Mr.Virginia's battery guide." And as far as the CDMA trick, do what I said and you'll notice a HUGE difference in battery life

I put in a possible cause way down at the bottom there. Sorry if it was buried.

I had a few battery cycles drop to ~3 hours battery life. Turns out there was an error somewhere on my SD card. Backup the files on your SD card, wipe, and reformat the card.

Worst case scenario, you've wasted an hour of your time. Best case scenario, I wasn't the only one who had this problem and your woes are fixed.

My original Evo got 3-4 hrs on a charge.... with moderate usage. Luckily for me, one of my buddies manages a Sprint store and he swapped it out for me. My current one gets 14-16 hrs per charge.

    I love my Evo, again!!!

I have been out of the country and had the phone off the entire time in airplane mode and the battery still died out in one day with no usage at all. There is definitely something wrong.

My wife and I both have EVO's (oo3 build) and upon their arrival I did some 'tweaking' according to the battery saving tips in these forums plus we discussed some of the 'while in use' tips to be aware of (turning on/off radios when needed/not needed, etc.). We use our phones quite differently whereas she likes to surf for games, download and play them for literally hours. Plus, she has loads of girlfriends she yacks with for 2-4 hours a day. But, it's the game time and surfing time that really chews the battery since the screen display is always on during that time which is a HUGE battery sucker for ANY device (including my iPod Touch which lasts a paltry 3 hours or so when playing games or watching videos).

However, when she's not playing games and just leaves the phone for talking we easily get a full day out of it. I will take mine off the charger around 8:30am and about 1:00am I still have 50% or so after what I would deem moderate use (a couple of dozen texts, 3-6 phone calls, surfing the app markets, visiting this site, checking news via USA Today app and the World News app, checking TV guide a couple of times, etc.). So, basically that's about 17 hours of use taking up 50% of the battery which means, theoretically, I could go another 17 hours before it's dead.

If I can get a full day of use (full day being 12-14 hours) under one charge i'm more than happy. Even if my previous phone (Samsung POS Instinct) didn't need a charge I still charge my phone every night.

I keep my bluetooth off unless I'm driving or need to use it while working. I use the Car Mode app/widget while driving (if switched on it automatically answers via speakerphone so you are 'hands free' to abide by new driving laws). Keep the 4G use to a minimum since my wifi works just great while at home. I do use an App Killer and have had no problems and the advantage I see with it is more in freeing up memory than extending battery life, but those two are connected. My GPS is off and if I need it it's a simple flick to the on position. It's only required if you're using something that has to have your location (the TV guide program even requires it).

I've either turned off all the auto-sync stuff or set the sync times to minimal since it's really simple to manually check everything by just opening the app.

If you're going to use your EVO in the factory default settings whereas everything is turned 'ON' out of the box then you're going to have poor battery life. It's no different than owning a Bugatti Veyron, holding the gas pedal to the floor for the full 12 mins the gas will last and then complaining about the mileage. Sure, you went 253 MPH but not forever.

Regarding a 'defective battery', it's possible but honestly I don't think that is the culprit in most of these cases. By installing some apps that monitor your usage, identify apps that could be running in the background zapping your battery juice, and following some of these tips in the forums you should see results like mine or others.

"OFF" and "Airplane Mode" are not the same. Your phone is running services in the background. Identify those and your battery life will improve. You might try looking at the 'roaming' settings which are a huge battery sucking pig if you allow them to operate in the background constantly searching for a signal.
