Got it while in Canada, although the Xoom (WiFi only) was purchased in the US if that makes a difference. If you're having trouble, try putting it in airplane mode, turn on wifi and check for updates.
The airplane mode thing doesn't make a difference. I believe it does make a difference if yours is the US version, US version get updated first. The updates started almost 3 weeks ago for the US and I think the UK got theirs too so I think it's time for Canada to get theirs too, it's getting ridiculous.
