• After 15+ years, we've made a big change: Android Forums is now Early Bird Club. Learn more here.
Let's get this started in anticipation for tomorrow when we can get our hands on the new phones. I'm an Android newbie, but I've scouted out a few apps I plan to download pretty quickly (don't know the exact names for some of them).

Full suite of Google apps (maps, calendar, navigation, night sky, goggles, etc)
ESPN
Time
Barcode Scanner
MapMyRide
Level/compass

Will also look for a good hiking/camping GPS-type app (eg, an app that will show me where i am on a map, hopefully without 3g service), a variety of sports apps, some games, who knows what else.

Especially for those more experienced Android users, what are your "essential" apps for the Fascinate? Help us get started right!

Let's see. I use these all very often. Thank goodness for App Monster!

Amazon, Android Agenda Widget, AppMonster, Astrid, Astro, Barcode Scanner, Beautiful Widgets, Bump, Camera Illusion, City Caller ID, Coupons, Daily Horoscope, Dropbox, eBay, eBuddy, Foursquare, GameBoid, iheartradio, Meteor, Monopoly, mp3tagger, My Tracks, Nesoid, Pandora, Paper Toss, Parkdroid, PdaNet, PrinterShare, Pure Music Widget, Quadrant, RealCalc, retro Camera, SayMyName, Scanner Radio, Shazam, ShuffleTone, SNesoid, Solitaire, Space War, Springpad, StreamFurious, Microsoft Tag Reader, Tesla LED, TiKL, tAttachAPKInstaller, Touiteur, Universal Androot, WallSwitch.

Here are the things I am going to download as soon as I get my phone:

  • Google Maps
  • Launcher Pro
  • Barcode Scanner
  • LED Flashlight
  • Facebook
  • Solitaire
  • Sudoku
  • Cubed (Although I am still not sure about this one yet. I am hearing that the music player for the Fascinate is pretty fantastic)
Those are the basics for now. I will download more apps as I see fit, or as I start to need more apps for various things.
