Help auto decrease ringer volume on pickup not working

Well it actually works for the default calls, but I like to use different ringtones for different people so I know whether its worth it to get the phone out of my pocket. I find that when I choose a different ringtone for a contact, the volume doesn't decrease when I pick up the phone. Is this a problem with 2.1 that other people are experiencing?

Or is there a setting that I'm missing?
