Help Background data required for email?

I have 2 email accounts - pop3 - set up properly. If background data is not enabled I am unable to retrieve/refresh my emails. Is there a way around this? Coming from HTC Inspire that had no problems like this. Thanks, Nelson

from what i remember about pop3 back in the day, isnt it that thats using data to check your email whereas Push doesnt?
I could be way wrong lol i just remember pop3 from back in the java/gprs phone days :thumbup:

Are you connected to Wi-Fi? What is your signal strength?

If connected to wifi I can hit the refresh button and it works. If background data is disabled, and wifi turned off - hit the refresh button it acts like it is checking for a split second and the nothing. Signal strength is good. With my HTC I just hit the refresh button using data time. I do not have a lot of email coming in, just like to check every now and then. I don't want background data enabled all the time due to extra battery and all the apps running and updating, not important to me. Thanks, Nelson
