Batch edit phone numbers in contacts

Hi all,

Due to a change in country code for St Maarten,
(LincMad's Caribbean Area Codes)
I have to edit a lot of contacts in my phone and I would like to do that in batch. Complicating factor here is that the old country code will be retained by the other Dutch Caribbean islands.
So I would need to know where the address book file is stored on the device and I'd need some kind of script, maybe something with sed and awk, or Perl, to change the numbers according to this algorithm:

+599-5..... -> +1-721-5.....
+599-othernumberthanfive -> don't change

Could anyone get me started with this? Thanks in advance!
