Yes, AndroXplorer Pro supports access to root file system and directories, change permissions with CHMOD, remount, copy, cut, rename and delete files.

I'm currently using X-plore.

Does what I need and allows the user to change how to access files for non-root and root users. No need for separate programs or basic/pro versions. Just change the access through options in settings. It does have a donate function integrated into the tool bar so non-intrusive. Also has no ads.

I was happy to see it ported from Symbian onto Android.

I used Astro for quite a while, then my old XP buddy came out with an Android dual-window app: Total Commander.

My favorite is Android Assistant.

The app has a Cashe Cleaner, an App2SD function, System Cleaner, and a File Manager.

It's got to be Es explorer for me, though I'm keeping an eye on solid explorer, as when it's ready for final release I reckon it'll be the top-dog!

Es has wonderful cloud support, is very user-friendly, very stable, and reasonably quick.

Solid has dual panes (Es does also, but one is off-screen) also powerful filter and search functions, drag & drop, and looks beautiful. Cloud support not as extensive as Es(yet!)

Mkc has a lot of powerful tools, including regular expression search. However, it is cumbersome and FUGLY! Also, the Dev spams other file-manager pages in play store - tut-tut!

Both Astro and Scalicommander lack cloud support, and more importantly haven't been updated in yonks!

I prefer Astro for general browsing/moving stuff, and ES for doing stuff at root level.
