Wish there was a way to remove an icon from the notification bar - pretty much everyone has a larger clock widget on the home screen - it's redundant. And don't need to be reminded we have an alarm set constantly.

There's not an app for that is there?

Found lots of apps to add icons but none to remove the default ones.

I too would like to be able to trim down the defaults that I don't need to see.

You won't find many apps for that. The issue is most of the status bar stuff is controlled from framework and android is setup so that no app may interefere with any other app unless two or more apps are specifically written to interact (makes it more secure). This is why home screen replacement apps can't control the contents of the status bar.

You might try metamorph and see what it can do for you.

Some ROM developers add features to their ROMs that allow the user to remove the clock from the status bar. But, again, this is a tweak within the framework.
