Cardio Trainer gps question

I love this app and use it to keep track of my running. I just switched over to the CELB 2.8 rom and now the GPS doesn't work when the phone goes into sleep mode. GPS works perfect when the screen is on and I'm looking at it, but the minute the screen goes black it loses the GPS connection.

Any ideas what could be wrong? Cardio trainer worked flawlessly with all the other roms, I like this rom and want to figure it out.
