Fully deserved, well done HTC too for tech brand.
But booo to the bizzare "commuter gadget of the year" which went to the iPhone4 - they had to get it in there somewhere! (the same award last year went to the iPhone 3Gs - probably because the Hero won phone of the year; cynical, moi?)
Anyway, Woooo Hoooo for the Desire!
I need to charge it on the train to feel it will comfortably last the day, but that's only possible when I have a window seat!
yep, most trains have a carriage with plug sockets fro laptops etc.
and an iphone4 can?The Desire can't win commuter gadget of the year with such a shocking battery life
I go down south every other weekend and on a 3 to 3 and a half hour journey I can take my battery from 100% to about 10% by playing games, listening to music, texting and browsing. I need to charge it on the train to feel it will comfortably last the day, but that's only possible when I have a window seat!
My main issue with the Desire is the messed up multi-touch screen. I'm still not sure whether it's technological or software based but it's clear that the Desire simply does not offer true multi touch. Games that use on-screen buttons are unplayable.I agree EmperorKabir, but I think it's more likely to encourange HTC to try even harder in the future. They've come a long way in the last year or so and I'm sure they will want to build on that success rather than sit back and enjoy where they are now.
Personally, I wouldn't change anything about my phone except 2 things: more phone storage and an improved battery (or better battery management through Android updates).

My Desire easily lasts, 30 hours with lots of use.
multitasking functionality (i do things on my desire just not possible on an iphone)
Could you be specific?
I am surprised the Desire won phone of the year when the sound levels for listening to music and watching videos is very very poor.
Unless you're in a sound proof room listening to music using headphones is a frustrating experience, even with the sound at max levels!
Other than this issue the phone i fantastic but I do think this is something that would have prevented a top award being given
