Droid Turbo 2 - Battery Reporting

If your battery does not seem to reporting correct levels ...

Press and hold the power button until the screen goes dark.
Release the power button.
The Turbo 2 automatically reboots.
This will clear the battery table so there's fresh data.
Connect the Turbo 2 to the charger that came with it.
Allow it to charge overnight.

I tried to follow these instructions. But after I get to the 2nd bullet, when I try to do the 3rd bullet, my phone automatically boots up. I let go the power button and volume down buttons at the same time in order to do the 3rd bullet. Or do I need to somehow use a 3rd hand to use volume up to select recovery mode? TIA.

  • Press and hold Power and Volume Down until menu appears
  • Select Recovery mode (Volume buttons to scroll through options and Power button to select).

On Motorola's cache clear instruction page, they don't mention volume up at all. Interesting that the Marshmallow instructions Thom shows are different - where did those come from?

https://motorola-global-portal.cust...prod_answer_detail/a_id/108278/p/30,6720,9583

  1. With the phone powered off, press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button at the same time until the device turns on.
  2. Press the Volume Down button to highlight "Recovery mode"
  3. Press the Power button to restart into Recovery mode.
You'll see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
  4. Holding the Power button, tap Volume Up once and then release the Power button.
  5. Use the volume buttons to scroll to "wipe cache partition" and press the Power button to select it.
  6. "Reboot system now" will be highlighted, press the Power button to select it.
In my experience with functions like this, you release the power and volume button together when the device turns on. Then click volume down (not hold) until it highlights "Recovery", then click power.

See the added line in the original I posted. Sorry ... I thought it was clear.

The answr is that this came from me and it is what I do ... and I do it every Saturday.

Thanks, that worked. It is a bit complicated, but I guess after you do it a few times, you'll memorize the procedure. BTW, you have a typo for "Volume" in the new red bullet.

After I wiped the cache and rebooted my phone, the AppMgr Pro III app I have still shows a lot of uncleared cache, so I'm guessing it no longer works at not only clearing cache but displaying cache, since the 5.1.1 to 6.0 update.

Different cache. Application cache is stored in a different place from the cache partition, which stores mostly log files, temp files, and unapplied ota downloads. (Yes, it's confusing.)
