So the other day I discovered an evil piece of dust under the glass in my Droid X. First thing that crossed my mind was, I will never be able to get a replacement because they are back ordered for a month. So, naturally I took it apart haha. It wasn't as hard as I thought. The most annoying parts are the clips holding the two halves together and the stupid black sticky tape they use to cover up some of the ribbon connections. Once the phone was completely in pieces, I used a clean coffee filter (no lint) and wiped down both sides of the glass. Luckily the dust was on the glass itself and not the digitizer. After scrutinizing the glass for 20 minutes I reassembled the phone. The best part was when the phone did not turn back on so I took it apart to see if I put it together wrong. I'm still not positive on what caused it to not work but I think it was the little white wire that connects two of the PCB's under the camera hump. I think that when I put the back case back on it popped the wire off. Next time I held the power button, it turned on normally and I cheered! So yes, the phone works fine now and not a single thing was broken (aside from some of that black sticky tape). And all of the dust is gone! Moral of the story: Don't take your phone apart to remove dust from under the glass. It's not worth it. I almost died inside but it was fun!
