Well, in my opinion the Droid X's screen is not made out of glass. This may be extreme, but its at least flexible.
It is far too flexible (pressible and flexy inward) to be stiff glass.
Sometimes when pressing the screen, (not too hard) I can see the LED screen do the rainbow effect/black wavvy ness.
I will take some pictures of the flexibleness (is that a word) of the screen showing the discoloration when pressing. Hold on for pics.
If you want to try: Open up Google (or any large white screen) and then press around your screen with medium (but not excessive) pressure. I'm guessing you will see the discoloration too. The discoloration is right in the middle where the point of "most flex" would be.
