Help Erasing contacts in history from 'to' field of Messages app?

Hi all,

every time I message (SMS) somebody that has been part of a group text in the past, all of the different recipients of the various group texts show up in the 'to' bar's dropdown menu before the contact alone. So, if I am texting Simon, but I have previously texted him in a couple of group texts, inputting s...i...m...o... etc will give me something looking like:

Simon
(74666)
______________________________
Simon;John; Dave; Kath...History
(0774655451;0786654654;075154...
______________________________

Simon; Tony.......................History
(0774655451;07894654678)
______________________________

Simon;Rich;Jonathon;Sar...History

How do I get rid of all these stored group texts combinations? It's making sending messages really cumbersome!
