I'm seriosly considering not to buy phones from this company anymore, at least till they stop deriding us. This type of problem shouldn't even occur on the low-level phones, especially the flagship, its like they mocking us.

My GS3 has the same problem in the same place just after 2 weeks of owning it from brand new. From the moment i took it out of the box i put a protective case on it. There is no excuse for this poor material Samsung used on such an expensive phone

the paint is not "chipped" right? i never have dropped my phone, the phone has been in a aluminum case since day one.

i notice the back right side (the volume button side) has silver paint that looks faded

Mine still looks fine, I hope it doesn't happen, or the next phone I will by will not definetely be a Samsung anymore. It's a

My phone has never been dropped or ill treated and been in a case from day one. I will post a picture of the ex-foliating paint on the frame later on today. I got the phone as soon as it came out so im not sure if Samsung have noticed this problem and fixed it in the more recent phones made but im furious as its a very expensive phone and its already ruined in my opinion :(

The edges of my ace have started to peel off.

But definitely did not expect this from the hi end smart phone.

At this point i feel htc is a better choice.

samsung is charging us a premium for low quality stuff they are mimicking the iphone now even with pricing.

Just check LG good stuff half price.

we are being ripped off.

Well the good thing with Android is that this is not the only high-end phone available. We have the HTC One, upcoming Motorola & LG phones, etc. I'm gonna wait and give it a few months- hopefully this is just some issue with the first batch and Samsung will sort it all out. Because I really want to like this phone and I'm putting all the complaints here aside as temporary issues. If not, then I'm just gonna go with another great phone out there. Remember, this isn't Apple and there isn't just one phone. We can choose who gets our hard-earned money.

guys, i don't have S3, but I dropped and scratched the silver border of the white S2 case, not a "deep" scratch, but a scratch off the aluminum paint nontheless, my quesiton is,

would silver nail polish solve the problem with the S3 that you are having?? is is it literally a "piece" that fell off?

Hey guys sorry to play devils advocate but my htc evo 3d had way more than that exfoliate, maybe not so quick (months, not days or weeks after buying) off the right upper corner of the screen right above the glass, but the black paint wore off and gave way to a way more noticeable white patch...shit happens with other companies too, just sayin, don't assume it won't!!

I have a very tiny one near the power button. It's funny cuz I can't see any Samsung fanboys defending their precious.:D I wonder what their excuse this time.

BTW, iPhones don't exfoliate.

Really disappointing that samsung decided not to use an actual metal band. This is the exact reason why I was kind of on the fence about buying this phone (cheap build quality). I guess i'll just have to wait and see how mine fares when I get it. Has anyone with a US phone had similar issues? Wondering if this is an isolated case for international models?

what about the htc one x.
has htc improved on build quality.

does it chip or peel off.

Same issue with my white SGS3. Probably 1 month old. Emailed Samsung and they told me to take it back to where I bought it from so they could send it away for repair. What are they going to do? Paint it? The shop didn't want to know about it. Bad service

I hadn't noticed it, because it's a very small mark, but mine is already showing the same issue. Mine is the pebble blue version, and it's just one week old. I haven't even had the occasion to drop it yet.... just waiting for the perfect moment.
