Facebook contacts

I can get facebook to sync contacts to the integrated contacts list (no "Sync is not available" error -- everything is fine), but it only pulls down like 39 of my contacts, when I have several hundred. The contacts that ARE pulled down are properly and intelligently merged w/ my existing gmail/phone contacts when appropriate. But which contacts are pulled down and which aren't seem to be a totally arbitrary choice. I still get news feed info on the "Activities" tab for the contacts that weren't pulled down

Anyone have any ideas?
