Help factory reset/wipe

how do i perform a factory reset/wipe on a samsung galaxy prevail

If I do a factory reset, do I lose the rooting?

Nope, it also will not replace any system apps you deleted, it does not affect /system

I did it. I wanted to do it because I was having a problem with my contacts. I can't assign individual ringtones. I go through the procedure but once I hit okay to assign it, it just sits there with a black screen. Nothing changes or happens. By doing the HR, I figured it would clear up the problem, so before I restored apps I tried it again. Wrong! Still the same problem.

Are you using a rooted stock ROM or a custom one? You might use Odin to reinstall your gingerbread or reflash your custom ROM
