how can I go back to the original settings and the original 2.0.1 or 2.1 with my droid? i want to take off the FRG22D because it took away my EasyRoot. I have tried the data wipe through the settings and also have used all the options in the recovery menu (by holding "X" at phone on)...

how do i do a complete changeback?

Wiping Data is just that - wipes off your data - aka apps and settings.

it does not change your ROM.

You have 2 options - get ROM manager and use it to revert to 2.0.x / 2.1 ROM, or use the SBF from Peter Alfonso (along with RSDLite and the latest USB drivers from Motorola) to flash your phone back to 2.1 / 2.0.x.

ROM manager is by far the easier method, but your mileage may vary.

As for FRG22FD making you lose root - well, since it is a stock ROM, that makes sense. however, you can root even FRG22D, if you so desire.
