Fingerprint sensor does not wake up phone.

I have an S20+ that was working fine. Yesterday I noticed when the phone is asleep, I have the always on display and fingerprint enabled, but the fingerprint will not unlock the phone when the screen is dark. I have to press the power button to wake up the phone first, and then the fingerprint works on fine the lock screen to unlock it. There are 4 registered fingerprints. None of them work on the sleep screen.

Fingerprint is enabled, fingerprint always on is enabled, and show icon when screen is off is set to 'on always on display'.

I tested the proximity sensor using the "Samsung Members" app and it works. Also reset the system cache and rebooted. I deleted one fingerprint and registered it again. This did not help. Any suggestions?

Yes, rebooted and cleared the system cache.

I saw you said, "I have the always on display and fingerprint enabled". But can you turn the asleep function off? so the screen doesn't go blank?

On my phone i have "Always show time and info ON" and it says will increase battery usage.

I have it on and I'm sure it probably uses more battery, It's midnight here and my battery is at 45%, so what ever extra battery it uses doesn't hurt me enough that i would turn it off. I used my phone quite a bit today.

Yeah i have my aod set to always show as well. I did drain the battery, but it is not noticeable to me on my z fold 4. Also on my z fold 4 my power button is my fingerprint reader abs I have to push the power button before it will read my finger.

Have you cleaned your area of your fingerprint?

Are you sure you are hitting the right spot on the screen when attempting this?

If it's off too much it will not work. Trying it on my S22 Ultra the margin of error is maybe roughly a 1/4". The S20 it may be even less due to differences in technology.

Thank you for your reply. It turned out that the screen was cracked and that was causing the problem
