and you're not supposed to do it from the "#" prompt you are supposed to do it exactly like the directions say. When you are at the "#" prompt it is entirely shell commands and you dont want that for the push commands
that worked.
do I need to do the next step?
4. Success! You now have a recovery partition installed on your phone. You can access it by running "adb shell reboot recovery" or by powering off your phone, holding "Volume Up + Power On"
or do I go to the next process.
III. Installing the new rooted ROM
now download (if you havent already) "eris21official-root.zip" and mount your phone and put it on the SD card (still .zipped) and then turn the phone off and then turn it on in recovery mode (vol up + power key) and follow the guide
You need to have the rom zip saved to the root of your sd card so that you can flash it with the recovery image first. If not, youll just boot to the recovery and have to reboot the phone to save a rom to your card. I'm assuming you know to power DOWN the phone first, then boot into recovery mode with the vol up+pwr?
I got into recovery through adb. Running fine.
Next thing to try is some roms. Do you have a favorite. I see the poll has eris v2 on top. I think I saw at xda that jcase has a v3. Have you tried that yet?
Thanks again for all the help. I been taking notes...
If you don't really care for Sense - Gridlocks Vanilla ROM is very fast and stable. I've been running it with either Helix or Nexus launcher and in the past three weeks only had maybe three random re-boots......which take less than a minute to complete.
No dialer lag either.
Congrats on getting it rooted, you'll have a lot of fun now, If you don't go completely mad with all of the available options!
