Help Font size small even with Largest Settings

My Pixel 5a font size in messages became really small suddenly with no intentional setting changes.
I went into settings & selected "Largest" for both Font size & Display size and the messages & even Facebook messenger texts are smaller than they were previously. Now some items like the Settings Display Font are ridiculously big while my application text size is small. I have tried to restart my phone, but that doesn't help. Not sure the screenshots will fully show the problem but first two are largest setting & last three are the default (not even the small font.) You can see that the "Largest" is not as large as it should be.

You can use two fingers to alter the size on Google Messages and it should stay that way until you change it again
