Just wanted to know if it works?
i'm also really chomping at the bit to try out the new keyboard. someone must have figured out how to do it!
Use the New Gingerbread Keyboard on Your Rooted 2.2 Android Phone caught my eye this morning. Worth taking a look
Yeah, I'm using it. Specifically the one from post #63 of this thread:
Gingerbread System dump DEVS HELP! - Page 7 - xda-developers
Posted by Incubus so I fully trusted giving it a try. I'm on Myn's warm 2.2.
i'm not running any custom roms. any .apk available for this?
EDIT: looks as though autocorrect doesn't work in above version : (
Working fine for me. Not sure if that's b/c I'm on Myn's 2.2 which was the intended port. He did say it should work on all Roms but I've only tested it on my own so far.
Whatever the case, I can say with great confidence, this is the spot to keep up on the latest info regarding this keyboard:

Just tried it out w/ Lou's Senseless Revolution ROM. Works great in portrait and landscape. My only complaint is the spacebar is easy to miss. I keep hitting the V and B keys, but otherwise its great.
I downloaded it from Droid Life. The first version they posted didn't have auto-correct, the second one wouldn't pass signature verification on my phone, this latest version was a piece of cake. I've only played with it for about 20 minutes but it's very crisp.

I've got it running just fine w/ Virtuous 3.1... Multi-touch and everything. The only thing that I haven't found is the smiley key.
using it with skyraider 3.4 just fine
I just flashed Skyraider 3.5, and it is included in the ROM. Works really great so far, although the '&' key is messed up, but there is a fix. It works, just says '&' on the key.
Looks cool except it doesnt have a Swype type feature, making it useless.
If you want Swype, use Swype.
So is it better than the stock incredible keyboard?
Seems to work good on Senseless Revolution 1.0
Im getting a force close loop on Incdoes Desire z 1.2
Not rooted. Downloaded zip and extracted apk then drag and drop!! Easy as can be and I like it much better than the 2.1 version. I really like the auto correct feature and the voice recognition seems better. No luck on smiley face ?? Wonder whats up with that??
I am by no means an expert but just in case someone who is more of a noob than me tries this--make sure you backup all your data first and then it is merely a matter of dropping it into your sd card--helps if you have a file manager installed--then just use the "open app manager" feature and hit install--its that easy.
Works great, I like it.
Edit: I'm running Virtuous v3.1.0, radio 2.05
this worked perfect for me on my non rooted phone. Thanks
Haven't used a whole lot yet, and I haven't used stock keyboard in ages because I prefer SwiftKey or Swype, but so far it is very comparable to Swiftkey in its accuracy and prediction.
I'm happy to see some of the non-rooted guys are able to install the keyboard, great job!
So, I really like this keyboard, but I'm a little confused still as to what is so groundbreaking about it? I notice that its really crisp and seems to be very quick. But what else is super awesome about it?
(don't get me wrong, I like it a lot. I just want to be sure I'm seeing everything special about it so I can get the most out of it)
running on stock rooted deodexed ROM. I like it.
I like this keyboard. I like the fact that the symbols are at the top too and I type more accurately with this keyboard than others. Other than that nothing super special.
