I am a new Android user - have an iTouch that I love but was annoyed at the restrictions of the iPhone.

I am a public transportation user and need internet connection for my laptop. I downloaded PdaNet and it was working for a while until mysteriously Wifi access stopped work (3G was still working). I reset the phone and it started working again, but when I went to download PdaNet again from the market it doesn't even show up now.

I am using AT&T - has AT&T blocked it - can they do that? Is there a way to install it on my phone without going through the market?

    Regards,

    Dave

    Welcome to the Android Forums!

What brand/model Android phone do you currently have?

In terms of loading applications outside of the Android market, yes this is possible. You can do what is known as side loading the app. First you go into settings and tell the phone that it's OK to install apps from outside of the market (for security reasons I recommend turning this function on only when you need it). Once set you can then copy the APK archive file for the app that you want to install onto your phone (assuming that you can find it) and simply run the APK to install the app.
