Hiding root from apps?

Due to work requirements I need to run certain apps that require NON-rooted Android version. I would also love to run custom ROMs, which of course requires root access.

Any way to make it happen? I.e. After I root the phone and install custom ROM is it possible to remove root so I can run Good, etc? Or is there a reliable way to "hide" root from the apps?

I believe newer versions of Cyanogen come with root disabled to start with, but it can be enabled through the settings menu.

I thought there was a setting in the superuser app that does that.

You could also look up voodoo root keeper on the market, it can hide root. I had to do it to run an app before.
