Root How do you know if SIM is unlocked?

I have perm root and S=OFF. Is my SIM unlocked? How can I tell? Is there a way to unlock SIM with root and then reverse back to stock and keep SIM unlocked? Im trying to unlock several phones and send them overseas. I just need to find a easy way to do this and keep the phone in stock condition if possible. Since I can only get 1 code from TMO every now and then, this wont help me.

Rooting and getting s-off is not the same as unlocking the phone. Did you read the tutorial that told you how to unlock the phone?

I tried a few diff methods of rooting until i got it. I remember reading one of those methods and it said you will root your phone and unlock the SIM at the same time. Can someone point me to the tut on how to unlock phone.

Thats the one I used just follow the directions
