Hello. I've been through some threads here on the Seidio battery and I'm seriously considering the battery. I'm curious approx. how long it takes to charge the battery from a near depleted state in the phone? I read somewhere someone saying it took a real long time to charge it. Just how long is real long?

It charges in about two hours which is to fast. The evo has a charging bug and only puts about 1500mah back into it if you just leave it. To get the full potential out of the battery you gotta charger it in an external battery charger. However you can get a decant charge if you charge it with the phone powered OFF.

Nova is right but what I did was buy the Siedio battery charger and dual charged the 3500 mah and the phone with the regular battery in it.

I use both batteries so it suits me.

You're Sh***ing me!? So you're saying that the Seidio battery will only charge up to 1500mah (the same as the standard battery) in the phone? That was my whole point in getting this Seido battery and not another HTC battery; I didn't want to have to keep pulling batteries out of the phone.

So it will charge a little bit more if the phone is off? How much more? How the heck does an off phone know how much battery is in the phone? Please confirm. :(

I have the 3500mAh battery. There is no need to use an ext charger. That would be a deal breaker for me as well. No way I'm taking the battery out to charge it all the time. Just leave it on the charger, as the instructions say in the box, for a few extra hours after the LED is "green" and you're good to go.

I recently tested it by removing power right after it turned green, and the charge status started going down rather quickly. Put it back on, left it there for another 2-3 hours after it was green, took it off, and now I'm back to "extended" battery life. I easily get twice the battery life I did with the stock battery AND keep 4G, BT, and GPS on all the time.

Bottom line, go with the instructions in the box from Seidio. If it doesn't work, call Seidio.

    http://androidforums.com/accessories-evo-4g/142298-3000-mah-chinese-battery-review.html

Read through that thread. Its mostly about chinese 3000mah batteries but some people have the seidio and the charging bug doesn't care if its a seidio battery or a cheap chinese battery. Lots of people have the problem I was taking about. If you charge it in the phone and leave it for a few hours then unplug it the battery% drops down into the 80's fast. If you charge it externally it stays at 100% for a while and it slowly drops. I use the external charger every 4 days or so while I'm sleeping to make sure the battery gets a"full" charge so it doesn't get damaged.

Actually, there is virtually no solid data regarding the Seidio battery and phone charging issues on that thread. As you said, the thread is specifically about the chinese/ebay batteries. Maybe 1 or 2 posts mentioned comparing it to the Seidio, primarily in regards to cost and appearance. The rest are going through some crazy battery reset process to fix their charging issue with the 3000mAh chinese battery; most of which also appear to be rooted. Possibly related?

Another trend I noticed is that a lot of them were removing it from the charger when the LED turned green. Definitely not something you do if you follow the Seidio charging instructions to get a full charge.

In either case, I'd suggest checking out the Amazon reviews from people who actually have the product. All of them are working just great. Not sure if their phones are rooted, but the Seidio 3500mAh continues to get positive reviews from Evo users.

I'll test it today and will post my results. I'll de charge it to whatever I can maybe reach 50% and post the recharge time and if there are any issues.

Ok I got as far as 81% from a full charge and my last post. I ran everything including the hotspot to run wifi off of myIpad. So as soon as I got to that and being impatient I recharged the phone.

Using omegas example of people just unplugging once the led hits green, I re-ran all services and noticed evtime a service was on I would receive a drain of 1% all the way down to about 91%. In addition checked for email and both the market and app brain fror updates.

Omega is probably correct that some people are removing from charge as soon as the led is green.

So recharging for the extra 2 hours once it hits green and will update again.

Not the best controlled test but should bring some of your answers to light.

Post in 2 plus hours on results.

I have the seidio battery and I can tell you I get a better charge from the external charger. If I charger in the phone (with leaving it charging after green) it drops to the 80's fast but if I charge in the external charger its a show drain. I have had my seidio battery for over two weeks and I get the same results every time I charger it in the phone vs external charger

Ok unplugged 2 hours after the led turned green. Turned on gps and wifi tethering, checked market, app brain and email. After 15 minuets I saw a drain up to 6%, but at that point the battery stayed at 94% and 5 minutes later hit 93% but it's slowing down.

2 things don't unplug after the led turns green, and if possible charge per the manufacturers instructions.

Two it would be better to charge using the external battery charger.

This is the 3rd charging cycle and I can update you at the end of the week for optimal performance but I believe Nova can give you the a better update since he's threw cycling the battery.

    hope this helps.

i cannot get a full charge with ONE plug in

im sure its getting more than 1500mah, but not the full 3500 in one plug in charge

meaning that, to get the battery full, i have to charge it, let it turn to green, unplug, wait, replug in,repeat process a couple of times, to have that 3500mah battery fully charged

:confused:My Seidio 3500 mAH is no longer useable, I can't get it to charge after 10 hours of being connected via USB cable to computer. I've had it since the beginning of September 2010. I'm wondering if it has to do w/EVO update 3.70.651.1? Software Info: Android Version 2.2. I'm now back to the regular 1500 mAH battery that came w/the HTC EVO. I'm holding my breath. It seems that that battery is taking a long time to charge as well. I've been in contact w/Seidio. My battery still seems to be covered in the 180 day warranty they offer though I didn't purchase it from them directly but through Amazon.com. They will reply to see if I can get another battery from them by maybe 12-24-10..

Anyone try that Duracell charging plate... where you just drop your phone on it and it charges? I wonder if that would fix the problem of having to take the battery out to charge externally?

    couple things

i have the 3500mah for my evo now and it charges fine

i used to have the 2800mah i think for the palm pre. that battery died on me twice and had to send back to seido BARELY in time before warranty ran out

also now i have my phone roooted and flashed that new kernal so that i'll trickle charge the phone. This way if you leave on charger and it gets to a full 100 once you unplug it'll stay on 100 for a good while!! no more unplug, charge, unplug charge mess....

what kernel are you guys talking about. I currently have kernel #11 and recently bough the 3500 mah battery from best buy. I've only charged it once overnight..how long should I let it charge to get a better battery performance, do I need to run out the battery until it cannot power on anymore?

Hey guys, I just have a quick question, I recieved my seidio 3500mah battery for the evo yesturday from amazon. i inserted the battery and without draining it charged it with the phone off from about 9pm to about 6am in the morning. After turning it on and testing the new battery out with some music to see how it up holds about a half an hour later or less it dropped to about 97% it continued to drop through out the day at a 10x more impressive rate then the stock battery which would die on me in the middle of the day. But im still dissapointed after reading tons of reviews about people running 4g and gps plus other apps the whole day and still ending up with a 70% battery by the end of the day or even the next day. It is now 10pm and my battery is at 47%. Now i will say it did alot better then the old stock battery which was horrible but after reading other peoples reviews im still not totaly impressed. The other thing is that I didnt even really have 4g or gps running for a big majority of the day like other people have claimed to do and still end up with a 70% battery by the end of the day. I did abuse the phone as far as running alot of apps and playing alot of games and music through out the day and have even used task killer when i was done. Id appreciate it if you guys have any tips or can tell me what the problem is.

I also heard that its not good to drain these batteries completly, so if you guys have any tips on charging and when to charge id appreciate that. thanks for reading.

Just charge overnight as you are. The battery isn't being condition so much as getting to a more complete charge around the phone software limitations. If you want, turn the phone off while charging overnight. Either way, you shouldn't need to do anything special and should see increased performance.

Note however, I just wanted to be able to get a full day of max use without recharging and I can. I can easily get two days when I toggle off 4G and apps when I'm not using them. 4G and 3G also use more battery the further they are from towers. I just happen to live less than 1000 feet from a 4G tower so 4G works out really fast and efficiently for me.
