How to read Java files from sd card for LG GT540?

uhh guys dont know if this thread's right but its about games so i guess ill just post this here...
so here's my problem:
i found tons of cool games online, but they're jar files, not apk's. i downloaded them from my pc and put them in my sd card, but the phone cant read them. i tried Java J2ME Runner but that app sucks (

so is there any way i can make my phone read jar files? i know some peeps said no but im counting on ideas from pros

Yes, but you need to decode them yourself. There is no (working) app that plays .jars.

There was something about it I found on Google, so if you really want to get them working I can dig it up for you, you will need to program it though.

thats fine, but does it require root?
and im no expert so if u could be specific about the steps id be hella grateful
