How to turn off email notifications?

got the new s7 and the notification keeps popping up on top bar with number of emails in my inbox. How do i turn this off? ive gone through settings and turned off notifications but still no luck..

any help?

that was the basic setting. do you do that?

1. Open Email.
2. Hit the menu button and select Settings.
3. Tap the account you want to turn notifications off for.
4. Scroll down to Notification settings and tap on Select ringtone.
5. Select Silent and tap OK.
6. Hit the back button until it takes you back to the inbox.

another way is bit hard. it was

1. Disable the default email app - Settings>Apps>Email> "Disable"
   
   
2. Remove the email account - Settings>Accounts> "Remove the email account"
