Help HTC Desire and Data connection problem

My HTC Desire (UK) has been find ever I had it, no issues whatsoever. Recently updated the Android software and ever since then I can only access the web/market etc when connected through wifi.

My signal bar simply shows bars whereas in the past it had either a G, 3G or H next to it, and I'm guessing this is linked into the problem.

This is probably a commonly asked question tbh but posting from a different phone makes it hard to search the forums in great detail.

Any suggestions?

I suspect the update has wiped your apn settings. You should be able to find them on your network provider website and re-input them in settings.
