Help HTC Desire wifi keeps turning of and on repeatedly

Hi guys I am having some problems with my HTC Desires wifi. This is my first android phone and am completely lost with how to fix it. Whenever I turn my wifi on it connects then turns itself off, then back on again, then drops out again and this keeps repeating. The only time it seems to stop is when i am charging my phone.

Can you guys please give me some advice it would be much appreciated
