Help listen to streaming radio while using other apps?

For the past four years, I have used a blackberry but recently switched to the mesmerize. I am pretty happy with the switch except that I don't find a way to listen to streaming radio via the browser AND use other apps at the same time. For example, I like to listen to a ball game while I play an app game. Is this possible on the mesmerize? I will be pretty disappointed if not!

Have you downloaded TuneIn Radio from the market? It's free and I think it will play while other apps are running.

It may be app specific, I'm not sure. I have no trouble playing music in the background using PowerAmp (I realize that isn't a streaming app) and have been able to listen to ESPN Radio thru their streaming app while it was in the background.
