Malware: "Andriod Battery Upgrade"

I keep getting a notification in my notification bar - a green plus icon, with a message "Andriod Battery Upgrade" (with the incorrect spelling of Android as noted) - I can't find any apps or services that look unusual to me - any idea how I remove this or get rid of the frequent notifications?

Its an ad. Some apps now have Airpush ads which show ads on your notification bar. Get Add-ons detector from Market and use it to scan for "Airpush Ads". remove apps with that.

Perfect, found the offending app and removed it, it was AirPush-related...

 

[BatteryUpgrade]

Unfortunately, it's not just Android users who are affected by the creators of these apps. Our company "BatteryUpgrade.com" are often confused with the developers of this malware.

We don’t make apps to improve battery consumption: we just sell batteries for mobile devices. We have done so since 2004. The "Battery Upgrade” malware is in circulation since 2011 and provides a negative use of our name.

Through these means we would like to emphasize that we have nothing to do with this malware and we really regret any confusion.
