Help memory issues

Hi,

I have had my HTC Desire about 2 months. My internal memory is around 8 gb...all I have for downloaded apps on the phone is 3G Watchdog and Facebook update, so I don't understand why it is so low. I have cleared all caches. It's really annoying...sometimes I can't read my new texts because it says there is not enough memory.

What am I doing wrong?? I have considered doing a factory reset but don't want to lose my info.

I had the same problem - only 6 apps installed.
Had to hard reset. Didn't take as long as I thought as my calendar and contacts were sync'd.

It's 148MB
