Music Player uses speaker while headphones are plugged in !? Captivate

My captivate's speaker plays music while im listening to it with the headphones, am i missing a setting to turn this off? Shouldnt the phone's audio speaker NOT be playing music while im using my headphones?

seems that even if the speaker isnt playing, as soon as i get a text and i hear the alert in headphones (while listening to music) then the speaker will begin playing also. this happens even when the phone is in silent mode. my 30 days is up on the fifth so im wondering if i should take it back? 8(

You should take it back to your carrier. That's a bug that needs to be fixed.
