My phone generated its own SMS response to a SPAM message

I received a SPAM SMS text msg from a known SPAMMER (562-879-5400), but that is not my issue. Nine minutes after the msg arrived, my phone (ie,"Me"), responded to the msg; however, I never personally responded to the msg. It is a cryptic response "KY Blvd Tokyo info jail IP jag kat I ok MGM I Jul".

Is it possible that I have a rogue app on my phone capable of responding to an incoming text msg, possibly sending back data or info gleaned from my phone?

I would think that you would have some rogue app. You can either go through your entire app list ( Settings > Applications > Manage Applications) and clean out anything/everything you don't recognize. Or you can backup your critical things and do a factory reset to clean everything off your phone.

That seems worrysome to me... I think I'd do a factory reset. Anything I did backup would be minimal because if there is something going on you have no idea what's doing it.

That code could honestly be anything at all.

Don't wanna downgrade the importance of this issue but it's also possible you pocket responded. I've done it quite a few times & since I have auto correct, many random words do appear.

I found something similar. An app I loved updated and turned into adware . How I found out was when an ad popped up I checked the task manager for anything that shouldn't be running (IE my now rouge app) from there I uninstalled it. Hope that's some insight.
