myPlayer very hit and miss on sim-free Desire

Dunno if anyone else has similar experiences with myPlayer (the BBC iPlayer app) but I most of the time it just won't stream for me. I think it thinks I'm outside the UK fairly often as well but I blame my 3 MiFi for that.

Anyone know why it might be Dodgy over WiFi or Vodafone 3G?

Downloading videos works fine BTW.
