Help Note 2 - No backup option

hi All,
I recently bought Note 2 and did factory reset/wipe data. I was thinking to root it and thought I should take backup first. When I go into recovery mode I can see only below options.

-reboot system now
-apply update from ADB
-apply update from ext storage
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-apply update from cache.

I did wipe data/factory reset couple of times but still can not see backup option.Please help

You need to install the custom recovery first.

Then I would just flash a custun rom. Already has root and no bloat and lots of other stuff.

I like clockwork mod recovery or (cwm)
But they also have team win recovery project or (twrp)

They are both good. Just depends on which one you like.

Check xda forums under your phone model (and carrier possibly) for the directions and the version you want. Always make sure stufd you flash is for your particular device. There are about abillion android devices and most have a version of cwm

I installed team win but it is saying root is required for this app. Do I have root first before I use custom recovery?

You need to flash recovery from download mode
Or
Be rooted so you can flash from a booted phone.

I recomend the prior method.

Read some more forum pages. Read read read, then you should be good to go.

Download mode is the other volume button during boot from the recovery boot.

Then u just connect to pc and flash in odin, the forum page should instruct you.
