Help O2 Sim in HTC Magic

Hello..

A few months ago, I got an upgrade for a new phone, and my mum is looking to have my old HTC Magic.. She has an O2 Sim, but the HTC Magic is from Vodafone. We thought we would need to have the phone 'unlocked', but after we put the O2 Sim into the Magic, it became apparent that 'unlocking' would not be necessary. The phone started up as usual. However, their wasn't any signal.. After going to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Notwork Operators and selecting 'O2 - UK' we had full signal. We where connected to WiFi, and we didn't want to use much/any data, because her tarrif doesn't come with any data usage..

We only bumped into a problem when she got a text from a friend.. When she replied, it wouldn't send the message, despite having full signal and being connected to 'O2 - UK'. I had a look on the internet ( Google :D ) and found a lot about APNs.. I set up one for MMS, but still couldn't send any messages..

Does anyone know the latest fix for this?

Thanks in advance!
